Project Runway Recap: Project Obnoxious is Better than Sex

At last, "Project Runway" is back! And it's obnoxious, and better than sex! It all began with a Project Runway season 10 toast; and it made me wonder if I had missed the 1st hour of the episode. I was freaking out!

Then we rewind up to 1 day where we all meet the new season's designers (I was so relieved that I didn't miss a bit)! Almost all of them had the time to introduce themselves, except for Nathan; it was until the first time when he was interviewed that I noticed he didn't got the chance on camera to do a proper introduction, poor him.

We all know who this season's character is, Kooan Kosuke, who has a pretty good personality and accent that makes him quite entertaining to watch. He likes to make a lot of "love".

Shortly after all the designers chitchat about their design aesthetics, Tim arrives and tells them about their first Project Runway challenge, which was to create a complimentary outfit with one designed at home. They had a budget of $100 and one day to complete their looks. Tim announces that the first runway show would take place at Times Square with tons of fans and press. Some of the designers were intimidated while others enjoyed the exposure that this opportunity would give them.

Time to go to Mood where the designers had 30 minutes to choose their fabrics. While others were really stressed and focused in choosing the right fabrics, Kooan was running like a little child all around the store. I believe this took a lot of time and it was late when he realised he was out of time, so he grabbed the first shiny fabric he could find.

We're back in Parsons where the construction begins! We all take a look to the wall with all the winners' portraits. The ones in the bottom were the seasons that we all enjoyed and had some serious competition, the others are all the fixed seasons. We'll see about this one...

I'm making this short because it looks like there is much more to come, Gunnar vs Christopher. That Gunnar came "b**chier" this season. (Imagine if he was selected for season 9, with Joshua McKinley? That would have been too much drama).

Dmitry is going to be mad at me, but I really like Buffi's loud and funny personality!

After 30 minutes of getting to know the designers and watching them work on their new outfits, it's time to go to Times Square and show what they are made of. All the judges look pretty good, expect for Micahel Kors, he always looks the same. I'm glad they let Heidi take Project Runway to Times Sqaure, it was really exciting!

After enjoying the Times Square runway, it's time to get serious and know the results from the first runway show of the season (top 3 and bottom 3):

So, Christopher WON the first challenge of Project Runway 10, congratulations! But my issue here is that the judges paid a lot more attention to the gown instead of the little cocktail dress that he made as part of the challenge. I love the gown, and of course I would love it more in another fabric. Back to the cocktail dress, didn't we all saw how he struggled to put it all together? For me it looks bad from every angle, mostly the butt, it looked like 3 sizes more that it should have been. I'm not hating, but they paid more attention to the home-made outfits.
Ven was on the TOP 2, I really really love the quality of his designs (watch his casting session if you're dubious of what I'm saying). He's one of my favorite designers so far. I think that his color choice for the dress was great and it is well done for the time given for this challenge. Also what I like about him is that he is peaceful. He'll take the designers one by one, and the others won't even notice, LOL.
I loved Melissa's designs! The one she made at Parson's looks like it was made at home, it was impeccable. In my opinion, this time she would have been the challenge winner. Not only because her designs were totally black, but because they had a lot more quality than Christopher's. Just saying.
So Kooan got away with it and was saved by the judges. Honestly, I would have eliminated Kooan because his designs were all cartoony. I don't even like his portfolio (you can look at it on Lifetime.com). I do like his personality, but this was poor for a fashion designer. I know everyone's mad at me right now...

Lantie just tried to push it too hard, and that made her block with the designs and led her to this. I know it's not flattering at all, but at least it's something that looks "normal".

So Beatrice is OUT. I believe that the judges didn't gave her the chance to prove that she can design (I've seen a lot better of her). When it was down to the bottom 2, I believed that Lantie was going home, but no, the judges sent Beatrice. The best of luck for Beatrice on her future projects!

Don't miss a whole new episode next Thursday; it's the unconventional challenge of the season! Woohoo!

Don't miss my weekly recaps! I'll try to come up with more creative ones!
